Please join us on June 19th for the Annual Silverado Community Clean-up from 9am to 2pm.
We will be meeting at the Silverado Community Garden which is located at the intersection of Silverado Drive S.W. & Silverado Range Close S.W. at 10:00 am. We will have the community tent set up where volunteers can get gloves and garbage bags to pick up trash and help keep our community clean.
After doing the clean-up the first year (2013) we found there was a lot of garbage and dog poop that had accumulated in the community as Silverado did not have a clean-up in previous years. The second and third years (2014 and 2015) that we did the clean-up there was noticeably less garbage and dog poop. To stay consistent from year to year and to ensure our community looks good any volunteer help we get is greatly appreciated.
Additionally this is a great opportunity for homeowners to bring their spring cleaning garbage and discards as the City of Calgary garbage trucks will be present. Old couches or mattresses can be crushed by the trucks on site or any other households items you may have. Please note tires, household chemicals, car batteries, metals, home appliances, propane tanks, glass, paint, microwaves, liquids and electronics will not be accepted by the City of Calgary garbage trucks. Also, on site there will be an organic garbage truck that will take leaves, branches, grass clippings, weeds, or other organic materials. This is a great opportunity for community members to spring clean their yard and home before the summer season.
Hope to see you there.
